K'gari Clean Up (Expression of Interest)

Well it's that time of year again. The dates have been released. Friday the 14th  - Monday 17th May 2027. 

Please register here to be updated as information is released. There will be official registration released later in the year through 4WD QLD, which will include a small fee to secure your booking (less than $15 per vehicle in recent years). 

BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATION ASAP if you are looking at a cabin or glamping tent. Powered sites will be available for a while longer. 

Fraser Island Accommodation & Camping

I will be camping at Cathedrals of Fraser again. They offer a 20% discount for anyone attending the event. Mention MDORC when booking to activate discount. There is no need to purchase a vehicle permit from QPWS unless you choose to stay outside the official clean up dates.  

It would be nice if we can all camp in the same area. I have booked this year for BASE CAMP as it has a variety of options. 

BASE CAMP is behind the cabins, and has 2 x single room glamping tents, 5 x double room glamping tents and powered sites for tent/swag/camper trailers. The camp kitchen and amenities block in BASE CAMP are good quality. 

PLEASE NOTE: you would need to double check if caravans are suitable for base camp and there are no unpowered sites. Unpowered sites are at the opposite end of the campgrounds. 

I will be driving from Brisbane and staying in Rainbow Beach Thursday to meet the main group to be on the barge at 6am Friday morning. We are staying at Rainbow Getaway Rainbow Getaway Holiday Apartments | Rainbow Beach Accommodation Queensland 

There is also a contingent that travel up from Brisbane leaving about 3am Friday morning and you are welcome to join whichever works for you. 

 If there is anything you would like to do or see on the island please mention it in the chat and we can start to plan an itinerary. I request a Sunday morning clean this year, giving us the entirety of Saturday to explore, rather than 1/2 days. 

I would like to try and join Willow's annual Friday expedition to the Western side to experience the beautiful sunset views with some wine and snacks. This will be dependent on tides as we will be driving along the beach at night back to camp. Any itinerary will be finalised closer to the date and I am sure there will be a few groups heading off to different locations that we can all pick and choose what interests us most.
