Presidents Report July 2015

18/8/2015

Welcome to my last report as President (is that the sound of cheering I hear?). I will not be standing for a club position next year (more cheering?) as I will take a break from being on the committee. I would like to thank all members for their support during the last 12 months and hope the club continues to go from strength to strength. It will be nice to have a break from writing the Presidents Report each month. Although it sounds like a trivial exercise I have struggled to find new things to say each month.

The club has had some very successful fund raising events over the past year and it feels good to leave the club in a secure financial position. I would like to thank all members who assisted in the fund raising events during the year. Pink Ladies Day was a particular success this year with $3000 raised for Cancer Council Queensland. Each year the event occurs we raise more and more money. Long may it continue.

I would also like to thank David Duncan, who is also stepping down this year, for the past 4 years work as the Club’s C.A.R.E. representative and 4WD Queensland representative. Four years is a long time to be a committee member and I appreciate his effort.

It’s also nice to see a number of different vehicle makes making an appearance. When I first joined the club it was predominantly Toyota and Nissan but now it appears there is a concerted effort by the Jeep owners to become the main marque.

It will be interesting to see the changes as vehicles get more and more computer controlled. I know my vehicle has a large number of ECU’s and three different computer networks within the vehicle. The one vehicle I believe could be a real game changer will be the first hybrid vehicle with a separate electric motor at each wheel. It will be interesting to see the type of computer control used in this vehicle.
