At the last general meeting I informed the club that I was going to work on the constitution to allow us to make some changes to it that will bring it up to what we the club are currently doing. I presented the committee with the first draft at our first Committee Meeting for 2020. There was some good discussion about it with some very positive outcomes. I plan on making those changes and re-present it to the Committee at the February meeting. Once the Committee is happy with the draft it will be presented to the club for discussion, hopefully at the February general meeting.
The main changes are:
- The Executive members of the Committee (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) will be elected for two-year terms on alterative years. So that the President and Treasurer will be elected in one year and the Vice President and Secretary the next year. This will give the committee and the Club stability and continuity.
- Formalising some of the things that the club does but is not written down anywhere.
- Moving the dates of the annual fees due by date, nomination for committee, and Annual General Meeting. This will allow the incoming committee to be responsible for the complete calendar year.
We will also be holding a trip leaders info session shortly. This is designed to inform those members that have not led a trip before what is involved. It is not as scary as you may think. If you can plan a family holiday/ trip you can lead a trip for the club.
