Presidents Statement # 2 - Covid 19

24/3/2020

It is with great sadness that I announce that due to the ongoing concern with Covid 19 the committee has decided to postpone and/ or cancel ALL Moreton Districts Off Road Club trips/ events for the foreseeable future. This is after the Australian Government advised that all non essential travel be cancelled. The committee will continue to monitor the situation until things are back to normal.

The committee wishes all members and friends of the club all the best in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you all very soon.

Presidents Statement # 1- Covid 19

23/3/2020

Due to the ever changing situation surrounding Covid - 19, myself and the committee have made the decision to not proceed with the monthly general meetings at this time.  This is in response to the current recommendations of the federal government and health officials that people practice responsible social distancing when in public places. This is a decision that has been made with you the members at the fore front. As members of the Club we consider you friends and family and your health, safety and well being is paramount to us during this time. This will be reviewed each month and in accordance with any government directives and recommendations. The committee will continue to operate as usual and will continue with committee meeting held via electronic means.
At this stage already arranged trips will continue if members still wish to attend. This could also change at short notice dependant on recommendations or directives from the federal government, and we will continue to keep you updated by email, Facebook and the website. If you have any concerns or questions about upcoming trips please contact the trip leader.
These are definitely new and uncertain times, but I know as a Club we will band together to make sure everyone remains in good health and good spirits, and the Club will remain intact and ready to hit the tracks again once it is safe to do so. We want to reassure you the Club will continue to remain open and active during this time and are here to support our members.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me or any of the committee members who are here to listen and support you. Please stay safe and well and look after yourselves and each other.

Presidents Report

6/3/2020

Welcome to the March edition of MDORC Talk. Well the weather has certainly put a dampener on things, but we needed the rain. I am fortunate that I took the chance and went out to Sundown National Park on the Australia Day long weekend. As I think about it, after all the rain it would have been a different trip. Although it would have been good to see water in the creek crossings that we did.

As I have mentioned on several occasions the committee has been working through the changes in the constitution. Last month we emailed the draft document out to everyone that has supplied an email address to the club for them to read and submit any changes they felt were needed and/ or ask any questions. The points raised in this process were taken to the last committee meeting for discussion. The committee has agreed to all the changes made to the constitution. They have worked very hard and shown great dedication to the club during this process.

Where to from here.

At the completion of the next general Meeting (April) we will have a Special General meeting to vote on the changes. Only financial members have the right to vote on this matter. If the resolution is passed, we then send it off to the Dept of Fair Trading for approval.

So, in line with that, I hereby give notice that a Special general Meeting will be conducted on the 1st April 2020 after the completion of the normal General meeting, roughly about 8.30pm. The meeting will be held at the North Services Leagues Club on ANZAC Ave, Kallangur.

During the next week the new constitution along with a Proxy voting form will be emailed out to everyone that has supplied the club with an email address. Proxy forms are only used for those that cannot make to the meeting. If you can't make to the meeting please complete the Proxy form and email it back to the President for collation at the meeting. Forms will also be available at the March general meeting. If you are attending the Special General meeting a show of hands vote will be conducted.

Onto other matters, the club is going to hold a Trip Leaders info night in the coming weeks. This is to give members of the club that are not quite sure on what is involved in being a Trip Leader what to do. If you are interested, please let the Trip Coordinator know or put your name down on the trip sheet at the meeting. If you can organise a family holiday you have the skills to be a trip leader. Remember no trip leaders, no trips.

Keep your ears open for news about the Fraser Island Clean Up that is fast approaching. They are usually pretty good trips and cheaper than normal with discounted ferry and camping fees.

Lastly, myself and the club do not have any issues with members organising trip/ events with other clubs/ organisations. I feel that it is better that the committee is approached first informing us of the intention, rather than after the plans have already been made.

Get dirty and have fun. From the bush to the shore.
